Middle school offers students opportunities to explore their interests, discover new subjects, and learn more about themselves. During admissions, New York City students can apply to up to 12 middle schools they would like to attend.

The middle school application for fall 2022 is closed.Most NYC students apply to middle school during their 5th-grade year, or if different, their final year of elementary school. All students who are eligible for middle school should submit an application in the fall, even if they plan to attend their zoned school or continue in Kindergarten to 8th-grade schools. Their personalized online application will show every school they're eligible for.Students with disabilities follow the same admission process as all other students.English Language Learners (ELL) follow the same admission process as other students. They can also consider applying to programs that screen for a language where they might get priority.

To be eligible to apply for a New York City public middle school, your child should be able to answer yes to these questions:
